Big Improvements Coming To Parking, Admissions

Waterpark Admission Building

In conjunction with the town of Irondequoit's highway project adjacent to the park, we're reconfiguring our parking lots and rebuilding our admission gates to better serve our guests. In the Waterpark lot, the new roadway will run just west of Bill Gray's Restaurant. New parking spaces will be created at the top of the hill, closer to the gate. The parking lot will also be re-graded and a new building constructed (above, a rendering of the Waterpark Entrance). The Main Gate will also see big improvements to the buildings and parking layout. All this work will result in a faster trip to - and through - our new & improved entrance gates.

And You Thought We Went to Florida all Winter

Bobsleds RoofThe last 2 months have been very busy ones, with several big projects underway. In addition to the Waterpark parking lot job, we've painted the Jack Rabbit first hill, worked on the Tube Slide pump house, renovated the Flume station, painted the Arcade building, and are putting a new roof on the Bobsleds station (shown in photo, above). The office staff is busy closing the books on the 2008 season, taking reservations for next year's company and school outings, and researching a new Point-Of-Sale system for our front gates in order to speed up operations. The work never ceases....

A Blast to the Past: Notes from Disneyland

Notes from DisneylandA major source for new ideas comes from our visits to other amusement parks around the world. In the 1960's, George Long visited Disneyland and saw the Matterhorn Bobsleds roller coaster. His sketch (at left, on Disneyland Hotel stationery) showed the ride footings and structure, and his note says "Bobsled has about 80' dark tunnel before going up incline". He also saw the Matterhorn's unique tubular steel track. Soon after that trip, Long converted the park's Junior Coaster into the Bobsleds - featuring a similar new tubular track system. Check out the link below for more cool Disney history.
